Billy Joel

1) Thanks to Monadhika Sharma. Introduced me to this great song writer, composer through one of the greatest songs, Vienna

There is this starting piano piece, it just passed by. But there it comes as a surprise in the end, and I have loved it since then. And then the song starts, ohh myyy goddd.... Amazing feeling it was.. That first feeling was precious. That humm at 00.29, eyye hey.. at 00.45, ooo... at 00.59, then vienna waits for you takes it all. There is this violin kind of thing going in the background in the 2nd stanza, I couldn't hear it for the first few hearings. Harmonica piece is also nice. At 02.43, it starts again with a different feel. I love it too. At 02.51, there is 'even get halfway'.. I love the way he sung that. 03.05, that dhapak on the piano, and then the soft music, and then the piano music piece.. oooh... feel...
One more thing, In the sentence 'Vienna waits for you' every time the length of the word 'waits' has been increased... makes the song even more lovely.

2) She's Always A Woman to Me
One extra thanks to monadhika for this one. I just listened to it once and rejected it. But after a few hearings, everything was clear. It is a masterpiece. That lovely music that keeps playing in the background, the lovely voice of Billy Joel, Just after the sentence 'she's always a woman to me' a music starts.. lovely. That part at 00.55, then the most amazing part, the humming at 01.50, I, just, love, it. The same humming while thesong dies out at the end, it feels amazing.

3) The Entertainer
The same music for all stanzas, but still I love it! That's because it is amazing! Lyrics, the voice, and the minor variations make it all. Lyrics are embedded into the music in a very nice way. 'I'd love to stay but there's bills to pay', then the stanza at 02.00, I love it. 'best years of my life' , 'if you're gonna have a hit you gotta make it fit, so they cut it down to three o five'. Classic.
'Ah but what the hell you know just as well' I love to listen to this part at 01.20

4) An Innocent Man
The starting music, the bg music, the chutkis, the voice, the voice modulations, the lyrics. Everything fits into place.

5) Just The Way You Are
Didn't like it for the first 10-15 hearings, almost rejected, but now I have started liking it. Maybe someday I'll love it. I have not left it because it is a big hit. Might be something in there.

6) Honesty
I love this. But took manyyyy hearings... I liked it at once, but couldn't go mad about it. It took time. Gradually went in me. And now it stands just below Vienna! That part at 03.21, 'is hardly ever heard'... too good.. but to love it, you'll have to listen the whole song, with immense attention if possible.

7) The Longest Time
I love it too. 'If you said goodbye to me tonight..' What a tune..  Whaattt a tune... 'maybe this wont last very long..' Just give it a try.

Piano Man is also famous, I think I will like it some day. I have already started liking it. Look for the word 'melody' in the song. Feels good.
And the lyrics for all of his songs, amazing.
Please don't try to watch his live performances first, you might start to hate him... But the recorded ones are a bit too awesome.
